  • The baby Olive is holding is her great grandson Matthew Howes (my son) who was only a few days old at the time.

    Olive was one of 12 children born to Samuel and Mary Hales the village baker and miller in Wistow.

    Olive as a young lady can be seen standing on the windmill on one of the other wistow photos. She is also on another Wistow photo with her mother Mary standing outside the house which ajoined the bakehouse in Mill Road.

    She was married to Herbert Howes (Carpenter), son of Joseph and Caroline Howes who were landlords of the 3 Horseshoes Pub
